Invisible Children

For the past 25 years, a man named Joseph Kony has been terrorizing Uganda and its surrounding countries with his group of followers called the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). This is done by capturing the children in these countries. They are then trained to become soldiers against their will to be a part of his rebel army. Most of these children will never see their families again nor come home. They will most likely not escape the wrath of Joseph Kony.

A few guys from San Diego were shooting a documentary in Uganda when they decided to help. They came up with the organization “Invisible Children,” raising money to post radio towers all through the areas that the LRA has infiltrated. These towers have helped to inform the citizens when the LRA is approaching. Also, Invisible Children sends out vehicles to try to find any children along the roads that might have escaped Kony’s grasp. Invisible Children has begun construction of a rehabilitation center to help the children that have returned home, whether they have been injured physically or mentally.

When Team Driven heard about a branch of this organization being at their high school, they wanted to contribute. They decided to have a jar for donations at all of their events, either in their pit or at a widely seen table. They are continually raising money for Invisible Children’s efforts.
