What other activities are you involved in besides robotics?

My 13 year old daughter performs in Christian Youth Theater (CYT), they sing, act and dance in the various plays. Current play is called Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. I have an active role in building the sets the kids perform on or with during the performances. Of course my job working in the telecommunications industry…

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy spending time at the lake, either water skiing , tubing , fishing or just boat rides. Fun under the sun… It’s also relaxing to have the campfires with smores of course. I like to go pheasant and quail hunting in MO. and KS. Enjoy riding off road motorcycles as well.

What is you degree/college you graduated from/current career?

I did not attend college out of high school. Attended vo-tech during high school in the Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) field and did this for approximately 15 years. Then felt the need for some new challenges and attended training courses for electronics for a career change working with nurse call systems for hospitals. This lead to a career into voice communications for hospitals in the Kansas City, Mo. Midwest area. Current job role for HCA IT&S department is Communications Manager for Mid America Division working on the hospitals main phone systems.

What is your favorite part about being on Team Driven?

Working with the kids and watching them develop and grow into young adults. It is truly amazing what these kids can do with the resources around them. I am a mentor to them, however, they teach me things also, great experience.

What is your interesting fact/talent?

Motor sports of all kinds, Nascar fan… I enjoy working/building things, motorcycles, car repair, bicycles, decks and various projects around the house. Also I work out 2 to 3 times a week and go on long bicycle rides when weather and time permits, great cardiovascular workout…

As a representative from private industry, I work with the U.S. Department of Commerce and International Trade Administration to promote exports.  I serve on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee (regarding Free Trade Agreements) and the Mid-America District Export Council (development of programs to help U.S. companies export more American-made goods and services).

Being Student Driven has to be my favorite part, but I also enjoy helping students learn new things, watching how their minds work, spending time with them and all my robotics family

I once sat beside Paul Newman for an entire afternoon at a Formula 1 race, even shared an umbrella, sadly I couldn’t talk to him because I didn’t speak English at the time

Well, I’m a health care consultant and I’m Founder/Editor/Author at Namely Marly, an online resource about names, life, and food!

What are your hobbies?

Our family plays tennis together a lot so that’s both enjoyable and an opportunity to learn and improve. I play piano and guitar as well.

Showing these kids what a difference they can make in this world. Team Driven provides the opportunity to help kids develop skills in so many areas that will help them in life.

We’re vegan so we enjoy just about anything that fits in that category. That said, Chocolate Cashew Shakes certainly rank high on the list!
